Emotional Wellbeing and Self-Care Strategies

Emotional Wellbeing and Self Care

Do you look after your emotional wellbeing and implement self-care strategies?

I don’t mean just because of the pandemic, but it has been during this past year and a half that has really made me think about my own wellbeing because I needed it! It has been important that I take ‘time for me’ and have physical and emotional wellbeing self-care strategies in place for when life gets tough.  For me getting outside in the fresh air to walk the dog or go for a run helps massively, but I felt I could do more and so during the last year I have been using and learning about the doTERRA essential oils and their physical and emotional benefits .  Using the oils has become part of my daily routine and has helped me stay focused.

Having me these strategies was invaluable especially during the pandemic when I was unable to work. I felt lucky that as a reflexologist I was able to use the techniques on my own hands and feet as a way to relax.  I have also had the pleasure of connecting with other therapists who are passionate about wellbeing and have found it fascinating to hear about the strategies they use and being able to share this information now with my clients. As an associate of the Sunrise Wellbeing Therapy Centre sharing our self-care sessions has been invaluable.

There really is a mass of coping strategies available to get you through the tough times.  It’s about finding the one(s) that will work for you.  There is no ‘one fits all’ you are likely to need a few to implement at different times.  For me going for a run clears my mind. But at night when I struggle to sleep and unable to switch of, it’s deep breathing techniques that I pull ‘out of the bag!’.

Having a range of strategies is vital to maintain a positive mind and staying healthy.  We never know what life may through at us and when it does through a spanner in the works. Why not be prepared! Be ready to pull that strategy ‘out of the bag’ and use it!

It is important that our children see that we have ways to manage our emotions.  Introducing them to self-care techniques and encouraging them to take responsibility for their own emotions are vital life skills. The more they understand and can implement a range of strategies the better equipped they will be during tough times.
